IIT KHARAGPUR has released a notification for GATE 2022. The candidates who are willing to appear in this exam can fill this form. Previous year there were various changes in the GATE examination pattern and eligibility criteria and that changes still prevails this year. With the introduction of third year in the GATE exam and option for giving GATE in two subjects , it attracts various students previous year and hope this trend continues this year. 

GATE is a gateway for various opportunities as a person who appear in GATE exam can take admission for M.Tech in IITs, NITs, IIITs and MS in foreign universities. Various PSUs and SEB(State Electricity Boards) also recruit candidates on the basis of their GATE score. 

GATE 2022 Brief details
•Organizing authority- IIT KHARAGPUR
•Paper mode- CBT(Computer Based Test)
• Gate 2022 will be organised in morning and afternoon shifts on Feb 5th, 6th ,11th and 12th in the year 2022.
• Candidate can appear in One or two papers according to her/his requirement.
•Candidate can appear in only one shift if there is multiple shift of a subject.

Opportunities through GATE

1. Scholarship , Assistantship for PG(Post Graduate ) programmes
 To avail scholarship or Assistanship for these programmes, a candidate has to secure admission in CGI(Central Government Institution) or those who are sponsored by the centre. Various institutes have different process for admission like some institution direct take candidate on the basis of GATE score while others give weightage to both GATE score and the interview in which candidate has to appear. Based on the cutoff and minimum marks, a candidate is given admission in the liable institute.

2. Use of GATE score for employment

Several PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) use to select candidate on the basis of GATE score followed by interview.
PSUs like IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Ltd), ONGC(Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) , BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd) , CIL (Coal India Ltd), NTPC ( National Thermal Power Corporation), PGCIL (Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd) etc. shortlisted candidates on the basis of GATE score in past.
Direct recruitment to Group A level posts in Central government, i.e., Senior Field Officer (Tele), 
Senior Research Officer (Crypto) and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in Cabinet Secretariat, 
Government of India, is now being carried out on the basis of GATE score. The details of the scheme 
of recruitment are normally published in National Newspapers / Employment News / Rozgar 
Samachar by the concerned authority. 
Some other Government of India Organizations may also utilize GATE 2022 score for their 
recruitment purpose. 
Candidates should not that appearing in the GATE exam merely not give guarantee for employment. It also depends on their performance in the GATE exam.

Examination Pattern
•Time duration- 3 hours
•Total questions- 65
Out of which 55 questions will be related to subject and 10 questions from GA (General Awareness)
• Type of questions
             1. Multiple Choice Question (+1/2,-1/3 of marks)
            Four options out of which only one correct.
           2. Multiple Select Question(+1/2, No negative marking)
Four options in which more than might be correct.

         3. NAT or Numerical Answer Type (+1/2, 0)
One has to approx or exact value of the answer

Eligibility Criteria 
•The candidates who are in 3rd year/final year of Engineering or completed Engineering are eligible to apply for GATE 2022.
•The candidate who are in final year of B.Sc or completed it are also elgible to apply for GATE in their respective subjects.

•Start date of application- 2 Sept,2021
•End date of application- 24 Sept,2021
(without late fee)
• End date of Application- 1 Oct,2021
  (with late fee)
•Date of declaration of GATE results- 17 March, 2022
